Merch Store Pricing & Payments

Answers about store pricing, profit, commissions, discounts and organisation payments.

How do I make money from my merch store?

You choose the retail price of your products.

Your profit is the difference between your store's underlying Digitees price and the retail price you set.

Do merch store owners receive a discount?

Yes. Merch store products receive a 10% store discount from the standard Digitees price.

You can then add your own markup to set the retail price customers pay.

When do I get paid my store commission?

Available commission is paid monthly, on the last day of the month.

Only commission from shipped orders becomes available for payment.

How are commissions paid?

Store commissions are paid through PayPal.

Do I need a PayPal business account?

No. A personal PayPal account is sufficient to receive your store commission.

Can my commission be paid into my bank account instead?

No. Store commission payments are made through PayPal rather than directly to a bank account.

Can I request my available commission before the monthly payment?

Yes. If you have commission available, you can request payment using the button in the commission section of your account.

Only commission from orders that have been shipped is available for payment.

Can I offer discount coupons in my store?

Standard percentage-off coupon codes are not available in the same way as a traditional retail store because of the way underlying product pricing and store profit are calculated.

Alternatives can include temporary pricing changes, gift certificates or creating products specifically for a promotion.

Can I put a product on sale?

Yes. You can reduce the product's selling price for a promotion.

The store does not display a traditional crossed-out original price and sale price, so make the promotion clear in your product name, description or marketing.

Can a business, school or organisation pay for all of the orders?

Yes. An organisation can be set up to pay for orders rather than requiring each individual user to pay.

Contact Digitees to arrange this before the store is used for ordering.

Do you offer credit accounts for organisation stores?

No. Organisation orders need to be paid before production begins.

Where invoicing has been arranged, the invoice must be paid before the order is released into production.

Do I need to pay tax on my merch store income?

Income you earn from your merch store may have tax implications, and GST requirements can depend on your circumstances.

For advice specific to you or your organisation, check with Inland Revenue or your accountant.
